Drake Tungsten in Brain Drain (Rough Assembly)

This is the ROUGH ASSEMBLY of the SECOND Drake Tungsten short. Boy is it odd without the voiceover narration. Hopefully Jason Topolski (Drake) and I will record that sometime and I'll cut it in... Drake Tungsten (name ripped from the same MST3K episode that the singer ripped it from) was a comic noir created initially as part of a 48 hour film festival. Drake Tungsten (name ripped from the same MST3K episode that the singer ripped it from) was a comic noir created initially as part of a 48 hour film festival, the quirk of which was that we had to use 3 lyrics from a Michael Jackson song. This is that film. It's got all the problems you'd expect from a no-budget film, especially one done in 48 hours. But it's funny, and the potential for the character and world is obvious. We loved the character and tried to do more with it. We had lots of great scripts, but the shooting unraveled on the second short (which we tried to do again in 2 days

Simple (no audio) demonstration of SFM IK animation (starting off showing what bone animation can't do). In real-time I go through all the steps -- including mistakes and missteps -- of doing a rough animation in SFM. It's pretty cool that in about 20 minutes you can get a simple little bit of action like this roughed in even if you're not a professional character animator, and you've only been using SFM for about a month. The "playback time and do simple mocap of mouse movements" aspects of SFM, for both bone and IK animation, are one of its best features.
